Health and Education are the wealth of the Nation. The N. S. Memorial College of Nursing, envisioned in 2012, under the management of Kollam District Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd Q.952 in continuation to the establishment of the health care institution named NS Cooperative Hospital in 2006.  The college was established with the aim to raise a new generation of nurses, equipped with the right blend of knowledge, skill, and attitude to provide comprehensive nursing care and bring about innovations in the field of nursing service and education through research.

NSMCON is one of the distinguished institutes in Kerala for training nurses. The college is recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC), Thiruvananthapuram and affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, Kerala. The College of Nursing has six full-fledged departments – Adult Health (Medical Surgical) Nursing, Child Health (Pediatric) Nursing, Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Maternity/Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing and Nursing Foundations. At present the college is offering B.Sc. Nursing programme with an annual intake of 60.

The college is located in N.H bypass, Palathara, Kollam, Kerala, India which is 7.5 Km away from Kollam bus stand and 6 Km away from Kollam railway station.

NSMIMS is the first multispecialty co-operative hospital in Southern Kerala, located in N.H bypass, Palathara, Kollam. It is the first ventures of Kollam District Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd Q 952. We are committed to bringing back the ‘care’ into healthcare.

It is a tribute to the memory of the renowned politician and great humanitarian, Com. N. Sreedharan fondly remembered as N.S and is shaped on the moto of cooperation, “All for Each and Each for All”. The hospital started functioning since 17, February 2006, it tries to live up to his values.

N.S Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences was inaugurated by Sri. Prakash Karat, General Secretary, Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the presence of Sri. P.K. Gurudasan, Hon: Minister for Labour & Excise, Kerala, Sri. P. Rajendran, Member of Parliament, Kollam constituency and other eminent personalities.

The administration of NSMIMS is controlled by an eleven-member executive body as per the co-operative department rules and regulations. Our sister concern are NS Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences (N.S Co-operative Hospital), N.S Ayurvedic Hospital, NS Memorial Institute of Post Graduation, N.S Drugs and Surgical and N.S Diagnostic Services. It is governed by the guiding principles of providing medical services to patients with care, compassion, and commitment.

Our hospital got the “Best hospital in Kerala” award from the Kerala state government in 2019 and 2020. We are proud to say that our treatment cost is 30% less than our neighboring hospitals. We are providing discount facilities to the economically backward section of society (AAY) with a reduction of 30% in the overall bill (excluding medicine charges) and a 10% discount on all medicines. The institution stands with a vision to serve the poor. We consider this as our responsibility to the society.

There are almost all the specialty departments with 2-4 units in each department and super specialty departments like cardiology, pulmonary medicine, nephrology, neonatology, gastroenterology, neuro-medicine, neurosurgery, reproductive medicine, foetal medicine etc. More than 100 doctors provide round the clock medical care to patients in the hospital.

Prof.Dr.Suresh K.N is a Nurse educationist having more than 30 years of experience in the field of Nursing services and education together. He graduated from Govt. Nursing College, Trivandrum, completed post graduation in Community Health Nursing from Omayal Achi College of Nursing, Chennai and PhD from Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai. Before assuming charge as Principal of NS Memorial College of Nursing Prof.Suresh worked with several nursing educational institutions in India and abroad as academician , mentor and administrative capacities.

Prof. Dr. BEROI STEENA T, Vice Principal of our esteemed Institution is having 22 Years of experience in the field of nursing education at various Institutions. She is specialized in Medical Surgical Nursing by taking Post graduation from Sacred Heart Nursing College, Madurai under The Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai at 2007 and completed Ph.D. Nursing in 2023. She is committed towards the Excellence of Nursing Profession and focus on to prepare students in refining their knowledge skill towards upliftment of the community to provide them with quality nursing care. Also, our students are well equipped to work effectively & efficiently all over the world.
