About the Hospital

Health and Education are the wealth of the Nation. The N. S. Memorial College of Nursing, envisioned in 2012, under the management of Kollam District Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd Q.952 in continuation to the establishment of the health care institution named NS Cooperative Hospital in 2006.  The college was established with the aim to raise a new generation of nurses, equipped with the right blend of knowledge, skill, and attitude to provide comprehensive nursing care and bring about innovations in the field of nursing service and education through research. NSMCON is one of the distinguished institutes in Kerala for training nurses. The college is recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC), Thiruvananthapuram and affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, Kerala. The College of Nursing has six full-fledged departments – Adult Health (Medical Surgical) Nursing, Child Health (Pediatric) Nursing, Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Maternity/Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing and Nursing Foundations. At present the college is offering B.Sc. Nursing programme with an annual intake of 60. The college is located in N.H bypass, Palathara, Kollam, Kerala, India which is 7.5 Km away from Kollam bus stand and 6 Km away from Kollam railway station.

History

N.S Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences (NSMIMS) stands as a beacon of healthcare excellence situated in N.H bypass, Palathara, Kollam. Our institution is dedicated to reviving the essence of genuine care within the realm of healthcare. As the premier specialty cooperative hospital in Southern Kerala, NSMIMS represents a pioneering initiative of the Kollam District Cooperative Hospital Society. Rooted in the ethos of providing medical services with utmost care, compassion, and dedication, we are committed to serving our patients with unwavering commitment.

Our hospital stands as a testament to the spirit of cooperative movements and pays homage to the late visionary, N Sreedharan. Established in February 2006, NSMIMS serves as a living tribute to the memory of Com. N. Sreedharan, a revered politician and humanitarian affectionately known as N.S. Throughout his life, N.S. epitomized the principles of the Communist Movement in Kerala, leaving an indelible mark on the socio-political landscape as a beloved leader. His untimely demise in an accident while serving as the State Secretariat Member of the party on February 17th, 1985, at Kottarakkara, left a void that continues to be felt.

The inauguration of N.S. Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences was a momentous occasion graced by esteemed dignitaries including Sri. Prakash Karat, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sri. P.K. Gurudas, Honourable Minister for Labour & Excise, Kerala, Sri. P. Rajendran, Member of Parliament, Kollam constituency, and other prominent personalities. This event marked the beginning of our journey towards providing exemplary healthcare services imbued with compassion and dedication.
